The map shows the area the Battalion covered from just before D Day to September 44. Click to go to the Google Map for details.
The Battalion parachuted into France 6 hours minus D-Day in the dead of night, sustaining 117 casualties on the first day of battle, and were down to half strength by September '44 when it returned to England to refit.
A great deal has already been written about this proud portion of the Battalion's activities so I won't dwell further on this phase of the Battalion's operations in N.W. Europe other than to point out the approximate DZ and areas fought over.
